Page 60 - Mapping Your Emotions

Mapping Your Emotions (Handout page 60) is an activity for the student to get to know him or herself in a manner that adds self-awareness. This allows students to reflect on whether or not they want to adjust their thoughts and behaviors the next time that this emotion arises.

On pages 57-60 of DBT Holistic Skills Workbook for Teens, students are asked to first identify an emotion, which could be either negative or positive. For each emotion, they identify a situation in the past when they felt it, so that they can then identify their typical responses, including:

  1. Body responses

  2. Thoughts

  3. Urges

  4. Behaviors

  5. Consequences

Page 60’s handout gives students 3 opportunities to check in once more.
